Being a Cub Scout

Cub Scouting is fun for the whole family.  In Scouting, boys and girls start with their best right now selves and grow into their very best future selves. It’s fun, hands-on learning and achievement that puts kids in the middle of the action and prepares them for today – and for life.

Schedule

During the school year, Pack 151 Cub Scouts meet twice a month with their Den and once a month with the entire Pack.  Twice a year, once in the Spring and once in the Fall, Pack 151 hosts a one or two night family camping trip to a local State park.  Several times each year there are opportunities to volunteer with a local Non-Profit.

Aims and Methods

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

There are four aims of Scouting: citizenship, character, personal fitness, and leadership.

The methods of Cub Scouting are: living the ideals, belonging to a den, advancement, family involvement, activities, serving the community, and the uniform.

Benefits

Scouting works!

Over the past several years Scouting has partnered with colleges, universities, and foundations to study the impact of the program.

Costs

The cost of Scouting is a true investment in your child’s education and future.  Annual costs associated with Scouting are less than most other youth programs.

Activities

At the heart of Scouting are hands-on, interactive activities. In Cub Scouts, there are opportunities to spend time as a family and to do things that help build upon the Scout Oath and Scout Law.

Den Meetings & Pack Meetings

In den meetings and pack meetings, Cub Scouts make new friends, play purposeful games, and learn new things. Dens usually meet two times a month. All the dens in the pack come together once a month for a pack meeting.

Camping and Outdoor Adventures

Cub Scout families have opportunities to go camping and to participate in outdoor adventures. Lessons learned in the out-of- doors help to develop a life-long respect for the environment.

Special Pack Events

Packs can put together special events and activities such as banquets, races, and community service projects.

Other Events

Several packs may be invited to attend other special events such as a large community service project or Scout Show. These events are coordinated by a local council or district.
